🏛️ LOCAL GOVERNMENT & COUNCIL NEWS

  • Upcoming Meeting: The Byram Township Council will hold its next regular public meeting on Tuesday, April 28th (tomorrow), at 7:00 PM at the Municipal Building. Key items on the agenda include a presentation on the results of the 2025 independent municipal audit and a discussion regarding potential improvements to the Tamarack Park trail network. Residents are welcome and encouraged to attend or view the livestream link on the Township website.

🏫 BOARD OF EDUCATION UPDATE

  • Teacher Appreciation Week Planning: The Board of Education met last Thursday, April 23rd. Preliminary discussions focused on coordinating activities for National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8). A call for parent volunteers to assist with scheduled luncheons and appreciation efforts will be sent out via school email lists this week.

  • BOE Vacancy: Following the resignation of a member earlier this month, the Board is currently accepting letters of interest from residents to fill the seat through December 2026. The deadline to submit is May 15th.

🗑️ TRASH & RECYCLING REMINDERS

  • Trash Collection: Regular Monday trash collection is proceeding as scheduled today. Please ensure all receptacles are curbside by 6:00 AM.

  • Recycling: This week (the week of April 27) is Fiber Recycling (paper and cardboard) for Zone A. Zone B will have commingled recycling (plastic, glass, and cans). As a reminder, cardboard must be flattened and secured to prevent litter. Check the Township website for full zone maps.

🚧 ROAD WORK & CLOSURES

  • Cranberry Lake Bridge Repairs: Starting Wednesday, April 29th, the DPW will begin minor deck repairs and painting on the historic Cranberry Lake pedestrian footbridge (connecting the clubhouse and Roseville sections). The bridge will remain CLOSED to all foot traffic during working hours (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) through Friday, May 1st. Please use alternative routes for crossing the lake.

  • Neighborhood Pothole Patching: Pothole repair crews will be focused on the neighborhoods off Mansfield Drive and Brookwood Road this week, weather permitting. Expect brief, intermittent lane shifts.

🏅 BYRAM SPORTS SPOTLIGHT

  • Lenape Valley Patriots: High school spring sports are officially underway! Tryouts for baseball, softball, lacrosse, and track & field teams are finalizing this week. Keep an eye on the Lenape Valley Regional High School athletics page for the full opening day schedules starting next week!

  • Middle School Sports: Byram Intermediate spring sports (volleyball and track and field) began their practice schedules last week. We are excited for a great season from our young athletes!

  • Rec Sports Update: Practices for Byram Recreation Little League, softball, and youth soccer are moving into full swing this week!

🌳 PARKS & RECREATION: C.O. JOHNSON PARK C.O. Johnson Park is shaking off the winter chill! We are pleased to announce that the tennis and pickleball courts are officially open and available on a first-come, first-served basis (or via reservation through the Recreation Department website). The large playground is open, and all athletic fields are being finalized for the start of the recreation season. Planning is currently underway for the annual Spring Cleanup Day and initial discussions regarding potential improvements to the field lighting—stay tuned for details!
